For 25 years, Francis has created memorable brand stories for Adabi, Tourism Malaysia, Inti University College, Citroën, F&N Dairies, SP Setia, Sunway, Udaland, O’Lynn, Microsoft, Hitachi, NEC as well as Yomeishu which led him to a TV shoot in Komagane, Tokyo, Japan.
A former copywriter and creative director in KHK DMB&B, Akomori, Mandate-Saga, NewsAd, Bozell Worldwide and Smascom Design, Francis also diversified his skills in digital writing with a short stint at Grey Worldwide. Francis has under his belt numerous advertising awards, including the prestigious Kancil Award and Malaysia Tourism Award. In 2014, his story made history. He left the ad agency life and moved to join Bloomberg TV Malaysia as a Creative Director. So call him an ad man turned broadcasting man. But whatever it is, advertising still remains in his blood and veins.
In August 2016, he founded Franciswriter Dot Com to continue utilising his skills, from developing website content, creating head-turning ads and digital marketing to foraying into feature writing. Francis Yip is also a two-time winner of Best Article of the Month Award for “Travel3Sixty”, AirAsia’s inflight magazine – “Pattaya at Play” (March 2016 issue) and “Myanmar Marvels” (February 2017 issue). Recently in September 2018, he was awarded “Asia’s Top Business Award 2018” by International Business Federation (IBF).
Today, Francis is a travel writer with his own monthly column, “Lost & Found” and “Food for Talk” for GoAsiaPlus travel magazine. With so much experience to share, Francis also lectures in One Academy weekly. As a multi-skilled professional, he is also an event and celebrity manager to famed philanthropist and socialite, Datin Maylene and Sinon Loresca, the King of Catwalk.
As a fashionista, Francis is actively involved in event management for STYLO International, a PR and event company famed for its stylo mylo events. These include Malaysia Fashion Week 2017 (MFW) and subsequently, as the Director of Communication for STYLO Gentlemen’s Weekend and Malaysia Fashion Week 2018.
Today, he founded WORDerful Learning, Malaysia’s first ever professional writing academy, honing only writing skills from various fields. So call him “Jack of all trades, master of all.”
